Contestants may ride with one or both hands. This will be split in two age categories, 8-11 and 12-14 and two different size calves to pit against each age group. A rope will be provided, however, if desired the contestant may provide own rope. Contestant may not wear spurs. Judges will score 1-25 on the rider and 1-25 on the stock with possible combined total of 100 points. Re-rides determined by judges only. Each contestant will be required to wear a helmet. Top finishers in each age group will go to the finals. Please bring own helmet if possible.
Calf Riding

A calf will be turned out into the arena with a ribbon attached to the tail. The first contestant to pull the ribbon off the calf’s tail will win a belt buckle. Contestants will begin from a starting line and will be started by the announcer. All contestants will chase the calf at the same time.

Contestants will begin from a starting line and tie a ribbon on the goat’s tail. There will be a 60 second time limit for each contestant, the fastest time will win. Hands must be in the air when finished.

A pig will be turned out into the arena with lard smothered on it. The first contestant to catch the pig will win the belt buckle. Contestants will begin from a starting line and will be started by the announcer. ALL contestants will chase the pig at the same time.
Greased Pig

Each contestant must wear a helmet to participate. Helmets will be provided, or participants may wish to bring their own helmet. No ropes or spurs may be used. The top 24 finalists will compete again during the Rodeo performances, Thursday thru Saturday at the Tri-State Rodeo. The ride will be judged by two separate judges and points will be determined by length of ride and stock participation.
